Turn It Around
Neil Finn

Make up the sound
A sense of disbelief
We could turn it ‘round
Before we leave

Rescue the chord
The one that made us wise
Washed upon the shore
And came back to life

Breathe on the stone
The monument
Always frozen
Silver moon arises
How we yearn to break the silence

Occupy the space
Sing for all the room
Feel the spirit move
And start anew

The white begins to fade
Underneath it’s blue
Violet from the deep
Immerses you

When you wanna feel alive
Or you wanna climb
Any way to keep my heart alive
Stay young

Blame it on the drugs
Made me what I was
Before we got the laws
Blame it on the dogs

Song appears on:

Crowded House - Intriguer Deluxe Edition (2016)

Piano demo: “Uplift”: Played on Fangradio, 17 August 2019

Don McGlashan guested on a few songs and played horn. The one song he had a good run on, didn’t make the record. ‘Turn It Around’ - people would know that one from the gigs. It turned out really well. Maybe it suffered from being one of the first songs that was out there. It didn’t measure up in the end. Maybe we never nailed it as good as it was live either. He plays a ripping euphonium solo in that one.
