Split Enz – TV debut 40 years ago today

On November 18th, 1973, Split Ends (soon to be spelt with a Z) made their debut TV appearance. The footage below is all that exists of that broadcast, filmed off the TV screen by a friend of the Finns.
(Don’t look for Neil. He didn’t join brother Tim’s band until 1977.)

More information can be found in our diary post from December 10th, 2012.

Split Enz co-founder Mike Chunn and New Faces producer Christopher Bourn spoke to Jim Mora about this performance in an interview today on Radio New Zealand.

Wellington’s Dominion Post celebrated the anniversary with the article The Beginning of the Enz.

Hear more about the origins of Split Enz in part one of Enzology: The Story of Split Enz.
