To The Island (Eddie & Elsie Edition)

A friend of Nick’s, brilliant Irish filmmaker Myles O'Reilly, has made a beautiful short film with our new song To The Island as a soundtrack. It introduces an inspiring couple, lifelong partners Eddie and Elsie, with wise words about love, nature and dreams. It’s so hopeful and tender. We should take their words and their world to heart.

RIP Michael Gudinski

Very sad to hear of Michael Gudinski’s passing. He was a titan of Australian music with an energy and commitment that was exhilarating to watch. So many pivotal and historic moments of Australian music rotated around his passions and strong will to succeed. He was one of a kind, a motivator and a creator.

Our love and sympathy go out to the Gudinski Family, Sue, Kate and Matt.

Fangradio - Time On Earth

Hi everyone,

Coming up tomorrow is another Fangradio at the usual time, but it’s far from usual. We are currently rehearsing all together, Crowded House in the same room, and might be able to give you a listen at some point. I do have a radio show prepared for Time On Earth, but I may abandon the script.

Whatever the outcome, it’ll be worth tuning in, I reckon. I’m very happy that you are listening!

Love

Neil

To The Island / Dreamers Are Waiting

Crowded-House-To-The-Island-Promo-FG.jpg

"come to the Island, where we can save our souls"

This is a good news day for us in Crowded House. Following a move of alert level 3 to level 2 last night, we are now free to gather in a room here at Roundhead Studios and play music, what a joy! Mitchell Froom and Nick Seymour have been released from 2 weeks’ quarantine this morning (after multiple negative swabs) and both are now present in this very room. We are together again.

In addition, we are excited to be announcing the release date for our new album Dreamers Are Waiting on June 4th, and a new single To The Island is out today with accompanying music video made by my good friend Simon Mark Brown and me, in which I paddle at great risk through a cave with guitar, just one example of the lengths we have had to go to play music together.

To celebrate these events, we did a Fangradio show today featuring live performance. An acoustic live version of To The Island was a highlight!

Crowded House Live '92-'94 Parts 1 & 2

Here is a compilation of live songs from a golden period of Crowded House concerts. Lovingly put together in support of the Australian Road Crew Association at a time when live music is on standby and all of these good folk are unable to do their fantastic work with us… happy to be of some assistance.

Solo at the Seymour Centre, 2010

Hi Everyone,

It’s Day 3 of Quarantine in Auckland and I’m watching the sun come up over the city. The Finns are in a bubble together so good to have family games and hugs amidst isolation from the outside word. It’s a sunny day looming and I have a chance to walk around the carpark for an hour……. then perhaps some skydiving and a visit to the art gallery… nah! Not today.

I did a solo show at the Seymour Centre in Sydney 10 years ago which was one of the most enjoyable shows in memory. The good people at the Australian Road Crew Association asked me if I would make the desk tape recording available to raise money for Support Act, a fund which benefits members of the live crew industry who have fallen on hard times or ill health. It couldn’t be more timely to be thinking of the incredible people who are the backbone of our industry. It's been a tough year for them with no shows.

So it’s a big thank you to them and I hope you decide to download this live recording which is quite special.

Cheers to you all

Neil
