Heaven That I’m Making
Neil Finn

Plead with my saint
Wash his hands and feet
Find his complaint
Make his world complete

And this heaven that I'm making
It can't come quickly enough
And the big wave that I'm taking
It feels like I’m just waking up

Mind out, don't think
I can't get used to it
Right on the brink
I end up losing it

And this heaven that I'm making
It can't come quickly enough
And the big wave that I'm taking
Feels like I'm just waking up

And I'll be there
If all of creation is kind
Each conversation I hear
As I'm walking in though the crowd
As if I could float though the air
And this heaven..
This is heaven that I’m making

It can't come quickly enough
And the big boat that I’m taking
It can't come by quickly enough

If there is hell on earth
There must be heaven too
Both in one place
And not a second to lose

This track is in 6/8 time and has a very curious feel, an odd emphasis. It feels natural but it strikes me as an unusual feel. We first played this song with Joey Waronker and he came up with the groove, but it was played in fact by Ethan Johns on the record. So in a way, the groove was born by the drummer.
