“I’m always searching for the two parallel worlds in one lyric, where there’s something in the here and now that’s very physical and grounded. There’s another thing which is to do with yearnings and little stirrings in the back of your brain that you don’t quite understand. In a literal sense, a sigh conjures up a lot and there’s lots of different ways that you can sigh and it tells a lot, as the opening line suggests. In terms of grappling with some of the things that have come up in the last couple of years, that’s all I was left with and all I was trying to evoke is the feeling of the unspoken being immense.”
